Geir Henning Hopland (b.1970) is a director and script writer born in Bergen, Norway.
Hopland was conceptual director and has directed nine episodes of the show Acquitted, which was the biggest ever launch for Norwegian TV2 and was nominated for four Golden Screen Awards in Norway, including Best Director. Prior to that Hopland directed sevenepisodes of the biggest drama export and hit show from Norway, Lilyhammer, starring Steven Van Sandt, which won The Golden Nymph in Monte Carlo.
Geir Henning was nominated for two Golden Screen, Best Direction and Best Script, for the critically successful Buzz Aldrin, What Happened to You in All the Confusion? Filmed in the Faroe Islands and Norway, it was nominated for 9 Golden Screens in Norway and won three awards.
Geir Henning is conceptual director of The Lawyer, written by creator of The Bridge, Hans Rosenfeldt and the internationally bestselling author Jens Lapidus, with Academy Award nominee Nicklas Wikström Nicastro as producer for SF Studios. The series was nominated at Swedish Kristallen for best drama. Geir Henning has been directing a second season of The Lawyer and has just finished filming Netflix original series Bloodride.
